Ethel Harden
Ethel "Lorena" Harden, 94, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Lexington Park. She was born September 3, 1915, in Valley Falls, the daughter of Walter and Edna (Arnold) Miller.
She is a 1933 graduate of Valley Falls High School.
Lorena married E. Wade Harden on October 2, 1937, in Valley Falls. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1976.
Lorena retired in 1980 after 19 years of service with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Karen (Ken) Stephens of Parkville, MO, Gail (Ken)l Leonard of Lenexa; three grandchildren, Lori (Darrin)Fanning, Kelly (Bobby) Bobbitt ,Christopher Leonard; and great grandson, Jonas Bobbitt. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Jennie Miller; and brother, Arnold C. Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Valley Falls Cemetery. Lorena will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
