Esther Jane Rice, 94, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Esther was born on November 22, 1918, in La Harpe, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd and Emma Fleming Wilson. She married John W. Rice on November 23, 1939, who preceded her in death on April 16, 1991.
Family survivors include two daughters, Janet Rice Weatherhogg and husband, Neil, of Topeka, Kansas, and Kathryn Ann Robertson and husband, Paul (Larry), of Georgetown, Texas. Five grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Two sisters, June Jones and Helen Hiatt, preceded her in death.
Esther was a member of the Topeka Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the former Manhattan Presbyterian Church in El Paso, Texas.
A private graveside service will be held at a later time at the Restlawn Memorial Park in El Paso, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison Street, Topeka, Kansas , or to a DAR chapter or project, or to the charity or organization of one's choice.
