Esther C. Craig, 98, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020.

She was born April 27, 1922, in Concord, Nebraska, the daughter of Gust C. and Elin (Kvick) Carlson.

Esther graduated from Dixon High School in 1938 at the age of 16 and as the Valedictorian. She graduated from The University of Kansas with a Master's Degree in Education.

Esther worked as an Elementary School Teacher for 35 plus years for the Shawnee Mission School District.

She was a founding member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.

Esther married William "Bill" Clyde Craig on January 27, 1945 in Dixon, Nebraska. He preceded her in death in 2002.

Survivors include her daughter, Cyndi (Manuel) Perez of Topeka; her son, William (Janis) Craig of St. Louis, MO and a sister, Bonnie Green of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Ernest, Carl, Oscar, and Victor Carlson; sisters, Ruth Kamrath and Violet Wickett.

Esther and her husband, "Bill" were avid world travelers and ballroom dancers who both took and gave dance lessons for many years.

Honoring Esther's request, cremation is planned. No services have been scheduled at this time. Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604 is assisting the family.
