Ervin E. "Mike" Maike, 90, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.
Mike was born April 24, 1926, in Osage City, KS, to Emil and Mabel (Dallas) Maike. He married Betty Wood and they had three daughters together. Mike later married Pauline Weber on August 4, 1974, in Topeka, KS. Pauline passed away in 1997. He had a rough start in life, never finishing high school but at the age of 50 proudly completed his GED earning the second highest score in his test class. Mike worked as the manager of Topeka Body Works for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He married Sherry Lee Desch on September 27, 1998, in Topeka, KS. Mike was a longtime member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed racing cars, making stained glass, residing in Arizona during the winter, and going on cruises. Mike worked hard, played hard, enjoyed life, and tried to live life the best he knew how.
He is survived by his very large blended family including his wife, Sherry Maike; two daughters, Kathy Wethington, and Carolyn Wood; five step-children, Vincent DiPasquale, Paul DiPasquale, Doreen DiPasquale, Wendy Branson, and Paula Webb; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Maike, and daughter, Paulette Jones.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
