Erma L. Spiering, 88, Topeka, went to be with her Lord on January 28, 2008. Erma was born July 7, 1919 in Hoskings, NE, the daughter of Rev. Herman and Louise (Loesher) Spiering. Erma moved to Geary County Kansas as a child and attended rural Barry School and later Junction City High School.
She later moved to Topeka where she was employed at the United Methodist Home for many years. Erma retired from the Kansas Neurological Institute in 2005 after 15+ years of service. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Topeka.
Erma is survived by one sister, Blandina Strauss, Junction City; a niece, Miriam Cassell and her husband Dick, Independence, MO; two nephews, Roger and Stephen Strauss, Junction City. Erma was proceeded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers. Services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel on Friday, Feb. 1st, with visitation at 12 pm and the funeral at 1 pm. Internment will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
