Erma Lomax

Erma L. Lomax, 98, Topeka, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 at Brewster Place.

She was born Aug. 15, 1908 in Deweese, Nebraska, the daughter of Thomas W. and Blanche V. Hines Bradley. She and her husband lived in Atchison for several years before coming to Topeka in 1943.

Mrs. Lomax attended the University of Nebraska and taught school in rural schools for several years.

She was a member of Chapter DV of the PEO Sisterhood, Stormont-Vail Hospital Auxillary, and Countryside United Methodist Church. She had been active in girl scout activities.

She married Loyd J. Lomax on May 19, 1930. He died March 31, 1996. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Enfield and Wilma Bradley, and a daughter, Carol Jane Lomax in 1952.

Survivors include a son, Ken B. Lomax and wife, Shirley, Orlando, FL; a daughter, L. Sue Lomax and husband, George Jeremias, Locust, NJ; two grandchildren, Angela McLeod and husband, William, Olathe, Bradley Lomax, Emporia; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at Countryside United Methodist Church with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Lomax will lie in state after noon today at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship and sent to P.E.O. Executive Office, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50312-2899.
