Eric Sam Badu, 61, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
He was born October 21, 1960, in Accra, Ghana, West Africa, the son of Alex Kofi Nkansah- Badu and Mary Asieduwah- Mireku. He attended Mfantsipim Secondary School in West Africa. Eric received a scholarship to attend Wartburg College in Iowa in 1980. He later joined the United States Army and was a Petroleum Supply Specialist. K-State.
Eric was honorably discharged from the military as an E-5 Sergeant in March of 2001. He attended Kansas State University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. After graduation, he worked at Frito Lay and retired in 2019. He also worked with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier.
He loved spending time with his son, Alex. He also enjoyed playing Bingo and domino's and fishing. He loved watching and playing sports, especially soccer.
Survivors include his son, Alex Badu; his mother, Mary Asieduwah- Mireku; his siblings, Peggy Asieduwah, Joseph Addo-Badu, Ernest Nkansah-Badu, Samuel Nkansah- Mampadu and Genevieve Nkansah-Badu and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Dorcas Nkansah.
Eric's family will greet friends on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, Kansas. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am., Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Penwell Gabel. Interment will follow at Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas.
