Emmett E. Sprecker, 74, of Mayetta, passed away Monday, November 4, 2019.
He was born November 9, 1944, in Seattle, Washington, the son of Emmett and Letha (Wood) Sprecker. He graduated from Milford High School in Milford, Kansas.
His life was surrounded by the military. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and he attended the U.S. Army Engineer School in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he completed courses in Construction Machine Operator.
He retired as Master Sergeant/First Sergeant (E-8). In his years he was awarded the following: National Defense Medal – 2, Army Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal – 1, Army Achievement Medal – 1, Armed Forces Reserve Medal – 3, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) and NCO Professional Development Ribbon w/3 Dev.
Survivors include a son, Troy Sean (Kim) Sprecker and grandchildren, Kyle Sprecker and Luke Sprecker, Madison, WI; sister, Leona Kay (Tom) Fordham, Topeka and brother, Karl Henry (Carol) Sprecker, Wichita; sister-in-law, Mei Lei Welch, Virginia Beach, VA; nephews, Jerry Welch, Kelly and Kevin Sprecker and Shawn, Chad and Tanner Fordham. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roy Edwin Welch.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2019 at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604.
