Emma T. Carty, 78, of Waverly, KS, formerly of Bristol, TN passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
She was born on July 13, 1934 in Bluff City, Tennessee to George W. and Viola E. (Hodges) Tester. She was an active member of Berean Baptist Church of Wichita and also attended Mt. Pleasant Community Church in Lyndon, KS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilmer D. Carty. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Judy) Carty of Wichita and Timothy (Aida) Carty of Waverly as well as 6 grandchildren: Daniel Carty, Leanna Williams, Alaina Hester, Jonathan, Gilmer, and Christopher Carty and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 7:30 pm on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Mt. Pleasant Community Church, 24081 S. Berryton Rd., in Lyndon where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
A 2nd visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Oakley-Cook Funeral Home, 2223 Volunteer Pkwy., Bristol, TN. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Glenwood Cemetery in Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berean Baptist Church of Wichita Building Fund, 1230 N. Hoover Rd. , Wichita Ks 67212 or to the Mt. Pleasant Community Church Building Fund, 26075 S. Berryton Rd., Lyndon, KS 66451.
