Emily M. Stevens, 78, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away Monday, March 21 at a St. Joseph hospital.
She was born April 6, 1926 in Pleasant Hill, M0., the daughter of Russel C. and Margaret Watson Skidmore.
She attended schools in Windsor and Eldon Missouri, and graduated from Jamesport High School in Jamesport,MO. in 1944. She then attended the Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe MO. She worked for Lowe and Campbell Sporting Goods in Kansas City, MO. She was self employed at Wildcat Lumber in Manhattan KS. until her retirement in 1980. She enjoyed numerous hobbies.
She married William F. Stevens on October 11, 1947 in Kansas City, Mo. They later divorced.
Survivors include one daughter, Pam Houp and her husband Robert of St. Joseph, Mo; two sons, Billy Stevens and his wife Nancy of Manhattan, Bob Stevens and his wife Kathy of Manhattan; two sisters, Pat McCully of Manhattan and Sandra Alexander of Reston, VA; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Stevens will lie in state after 1:00 pm, Thursday March 24 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW. 10th St. Topeka KS. 66606. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, March 25 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
