Elsie Ray (Kirkpatrick) Hladky, 92, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012, Topeka.
Elsie was born October 26, 1920, to Ray and Dorcus (Wines) Kirkpatrick, in Manhattan, Kansas. Elsie graduated from Wamego High School in 1938 and attended Kansas State University. She married Loren Francis Hladky, on August 23, 1941, in Manhattan, Kansas. Elsie was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was also a Stanley Products Dealer and McDonald's Department Store sales clerk. Elsie was an excellent seamstress, and loved needlework. She was an active member of her church, University United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and sister, Charles Kirkpatrick, William Kirkpatrick, Mildred (Kirkpatrick) Sellers; and grandson, Brian Hladky.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Loren, living at Atria Hearthstone, Topeka; son, Harold, of Battle Creek, MI; grandchildren, Heather Hladky Robinson, of Olathe, KS, Shawn Hladky, of Denver, CO; step grandson, Mark Fitch, of Rolla, MO; and great grandchildren, Kyle and Ashlee Robinson.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at University United Methodist Church, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Elsie will lie state after 2 p.m. Monday, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m.
