Elmer Claude Moore of Tecumseh, Kansas passed away 04-14-2007 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas.
Elmer was born 12-26-1921 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the 5th of 6 children born to George and Clara Moore. Elmer's siblings were Woodrow, Chastain, Mary, Ralph and George. Elmer attended Walthall Grade School and Hattiesburg High School in Hattiesburg before joining the Mississippi National Guard in 1937 at the age of 16, having lied about his age. In 1940 he transferred to active duty Army and attended Officer Candidate School graduating as a 1st Lieutenant, having served in the Pacific theater, in Anti-Aircraft Warfare. He was discharged as a second Lieutenant in 1945.
After his discharge, Elmer and Novis Nelloise Morgan were married and moved to Houston, Texas where Elmer attended the University of Houston majoring in electrical engineering. Elmer worked as a draftsman in structural engineering for Continental Emsco. He designed oil derricks for over 37 years, retiring in 1987.
Elmer was preceded in death August 17th, 1994 by Nelloise, after 49 years of marriage. A daughter, Pamela Sue, was stillborn August, 1952. A son, Ronald, was born March 11, 1954, he survives. Other survivors include a brother George Moore of Houston, two grandsons, Jeremy Moore of Houston, and Gabriel Moore of Topeka, a great-granddaughter Hannah Moore of Houston, and four step-grandchildren Ingrid, Lindsay, Kyle, and Cody Trevino.
Elmer moved to Tecumseh in December 2004 from his home of over 44 years in Pasadena, Texas. Elmer resided in Tecumseh with his son, Ronald Moore and daughter-in-law Diane Moore.
Elmer loved to spoil the dogs and always had a comfortable lap for the smallest of the group. The two would often take naps together in his favorite chair. Elmer was always ready to go for a ride no matter where it was to, but especially loved to go fishing.
Memorial services and internment will be at Forest Park, Lawndale in Houston, Texas at a date yet to be determined.
