Elizabeth E. Stephenson

Elizabeth Ellen Stephenson, 93, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. She was living in the Heath Care Unit at Aldersgate Village. Betty was born on August 25, 1914 in Spokane, Washington, the daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth Penfield. Betty and her family moved to Cherryvale, KS when she was four years old. Before the age of six, the Penfields moved to Sedan, KS where Betty attended public schools and graduated from high school in 1932. She was blessed with five brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by four of her siblings, Thelma, George, Ralph and Charlie. Betty married James Byron "Steve" Stephenson. They were married for 72 years. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Kay Elizabeth Tebow and her husband, Bob of Hermitage, MO and their four children, Debbie and husband, Tim Gill; Becky and husband, David Edwards; Mike and wife, Michelle Tebow and Robert Tebow; and Sandra Sue and husband, Buck Adams of Topeka and their three children, Steve and wife, Janice Adams, Sue and husband, Mike Hawks and Bill and wife, Heidi Adams. Other survivors include her sister, Claudine of San Diego, CA, brothers-in-law, Eugene of Sedan, KS and Clark of Boulder, CO. Other survivors include: great-grandchildren, Shane, Elizabeth, John, Jessica, Rob, Joseph, Emily, Joshua, Kelsey, Devin, Hunter, Mikala, Bailey and sisters-in-law, Esther and Gladys and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Wesley Hall on the Aldersgate campus. Private inurnment will take place in Topeka Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Good Samaritan Fund at Aldersgate Village, 7220 S.W. Asbury Dr., Topeka, KS 66614.
