Elisabeth C. Chubb
Elisabeth C. "Tib" Chubb, 86, died Wednesday evening, July 1, at a Topeka hospice.
She was born April 19, 1917 to Norma and Arthur J. Carruth Jr. in Topeka. A brother, Arthur J. Carruth III, preceded her in death.
She married Donald A. Chubb on September 19, 1940. He died in 1975.
She attended Ward-Belmont College and graduated from the University of Kansas, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and Theta Sigma Phi national journalism sorority. She worked as a reporter for the Topeka State Journal before her marriage.
She is survived by three children, Donald A. Chubb Jr. of Topeka, Mary Elisabeth Lagerborg, Littleton, Colorado, and Dr. David A. Chubb, Santa Barbara, California, and six grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of Grace Cathedral, where she belonged to the Alter Guild and the Daughters of the King. She was also a member of the Junior League of Topeka, Mulvane Art Center Woman's Board, Junior Social Service and the Stormont Vail Hospital Auxiliary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Cathedral or the Donald and Elisabeth Chubb Scholarship Fund in care of the Washburn Endowment Association.
Services will be held at 1O AM Monday morning, July 7, at Grace Cathedral. Burial will follow immediately at Mount Hope Cemetery.
