Elex H. Carter, 85, of Topeka, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020.
He was born March 31, 1934, in Victory, Vermont, the son of Harry and Geneva (Brown) Carter. He served in the U.S. Air Force over 20 years, retiring in 1971.
Elex was later employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka until retiring.
He was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka and an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge No. 555 both of Topeka.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Gray of San Antonio, TX; his son, Clifford Carter of San Antonio, TX; his step-son, Rick (Melinda) Dalby of Riley, KS; four grandchildren, Crystal (Richard) Tabasi, Stacy (Matthew) Walkner, Candace (Cody) Fedler, and Nicole (Josh) Vaughn; his "adopted daughter", Pamela S. (Calderwood) Lister and her husband, Bernie; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and seven brothers, Rayfield Burt, Sr., Frank Burt, Ralph Burt, Thomas Burt, Stewart Burt, Doug Kimball and Norman Carter; and his sister, Beverly Carter.
Elex was a Harley Davidson enthusiast who was an active participant and supporter of Toys For Tots Ride in Topeka. He enjoyed bowling on various bowling leagues at Gage Center Bowl in Topeka.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Christ Lutheran Church, 3509 SW Burlingame Rd., Topeka. Interment with will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
