Eleanor Carolyn Mossman, 93, of Topeka passed away on November 26, 2018.
She was born on September 27, 1925, in Wamego, KS the first daughter of Ernest and Mary (Henley) Lightbody.
Carolyn graduated from Topeka High School in 1943 and attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago for three years. She met her husband, Richard "Dick" Mossman, in Topeka and they were married in 1949.
She was a member of Community Baptist and then First Baptist Church. She worked and volunteered in many capacities especially teaching Children's Sunday School for 35 years at both churches. She also worked as a secretary for the American Baptist Convention in Topeka.
Later, for ten years she was secretary for several senators during legislative sessions at the Kansas Statehouse.
She is survived by two sons, Robert of Tucson AZ and Rick of Mt. Vernon WA; two grandsons, Thomas and Jackson; and two sisters, Marcena Absher of Meridian ID, and Carmen Maupin of Topeka.
Services will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at First Baptist Church, 3033 SW Macvicar at 11:00 a.m. Carolyn will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N. Kansas Ave., PO Box 5350, Topeka KS 66608 or to a charity of your choice.
