Elden H. Henke, 92, died March 6, 2013, under hospice care. He was born on August 24, 1920, to Adolph and Lydia (Stenzel) Henke at the home on the farm near Lost Springs, KS.
He farmed in Marion and Morris Counties for most of his life, moving to Topeka in 1990. He attended Wichita Business College.
Elden married Margaret Maurer in Covina, CA, on Dec. 14, 1947. She preceded in him death on March 3, 1994. He married Hazel Engstrom of Junction City on April 10, 1995, and she died on March 22, 2000.
He is survived by his daughters, Sue Henke of Topeka, and Judy (Bob) Dunn of Emporia, as well as two stepsons, Greg Engstrom of Fort Worth, TX, and David Engstrom of Eudora, two stepdaughters, Tami Law of Oak Harbor, WA, and Jayne Karmann of Junction City, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Addy (Fred) Maurer, and a brother Marvin (Delores) Henke.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2021 SW 29th Street, Topeka, KS 66611, with interment in the St. Paul Cemetery at Ramona, at a later date. He was cremated.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the church.
Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, is assisting the family with arrangements.
