Elaine Charlene Wilder-Jones

Elaine Charlene Hobbs (Wilder Jones), born July 21, 1944 to Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Lue Bell Hobbs in Ottawa, Kansas. She attended Hawthorn Elementary and Ottawa Jr. High. After completing Junior High School she moved to Topeka, Kansas with her children in 1962. In 1970 she married Larry W. Wilder who preceded her in death. On April 18, 1986 she married the love of her life Mr. Clyde F. Jones who has also preceded her in death. She was trained at Stormont Vail as a Nurse's Aide and also worked in other career fields such as housekeeper and childcare worker. She later retired from the Shawnee County Juvenile Detention Center after 40 years of service. Elaine was a member of Myra Chapter # 5 Order Eastern Star Topeka, KS, where she served several terms as Worthy Matron. She also served as the Grand Conductress in 2005-2006 for the PHA Grand Chapter, Kansas Jurisdiction. She was also a member of Oasis Court # 44, Daughters of Isis (Female Auxiliary A.E.A.O.N.M.S.) in 1997 she served as Illustrious Commandress as well as a member Order of the Golden Circle Assembly # 80 Topeka, KS. She loved her organizations and worked faithfully for their success.

She leaves to celebrate her home going two sisters, May Trosclair, Pomona CA, Lucille Warren,Hesperia, CA, one brother, Michael Edwards, San Diego, CA , two sons, Tony A. Hobbs (Teresa) of Hutchinson, KS and Darrick L. Hobbs of Topeka, KS, one daughter Roxanne L. Hobbs (Tony) Topeka, KS; Four grand children Ynda and Cameron Hobbs of Topeka, KS; Chazari Beard (Steve) of Topeka, KS and Joshua Hobbs of Lawrence, KS; 5 Great Grand children Azirayia C. Hester, Nevaeh ¬C Hester, Da'Nai C. Hester, Steven Hester Jr., Dai'Ontay Washington; and a niece Wanda Silvey Ottawa, KS; Four nephews: Robert H. Cox Kansas City, KS; Chris Allen and Terrell Cox both of Topeka, KS and Raymond Cox. A host of surrogate children which include Lisa Martin (William Word) of Topeka, KS, Octavia Smith of Hampton, GA, Jamie Winborn (Armie) Lawrence, KS, William Smith and Michael Briggs just to name a few, as well as a host of relatives and friends.
Elaine enjoyed sitting on the porch, plants, flowers, table games and most of all Bingo. She loved music of the 60's and 70's including soft jazz and dancing. She loved her family dearly, never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need.

Jones) and there are no words to describe how wonderful it is to be with him once again. Mrs. Wilder-Jones will lie in state after 3 p.m., Tuesday, at the Penwell Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, where an Eastern Star Service will be conducted at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service until 8 p.m. Services Wednesday February 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at 2p.m., Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Ottawa, KS. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to American Cancer Society, 1315 S.W. Arrowhead Road. Topeka, KS 66604.
