Eileen Montgomery, 99, Topeka, formerly of Holyrood, KS passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016.
She was born August 17, 1917, in Pierceville, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Martha (Orf) Borger. She graduated from Pierceville High School and Halstead Hospital Nursing School with her RN.
On February 7, 1942, she married Les Montgomery in Reno, NV. He preceded her in death in 1989. Survivors include their children: Gary (Anthea) Montgomery and Jan (Tim) Lyle; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. Eileen was a world traveler. In her 70's she was a doubles tennis champion in Holyrood.
She retired as an office nurse for Dr. Lyle Anderson in Great Bend. After retirement, she completed her EMT certification.
Eileen was a long time member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and currently a member at Faith Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Holyrood Red Hat Society.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor, 4712 SW 6th Street, Topeka. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Holyrood. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
