Eileen May (Olson) Metzler, 97, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023 in Topeka, KS
Eileen was born on April 27, 1926 to Lewis Olson and Delia Lagoo in International Falls, MN.
She married Raymond (Shorty) Metzler in Vancouver, WA on May 11,1945. Shortly thereafter they moved to Topeka to start a family. They welcomed four children; Linda, Jerry, Cheryl and Susan.
Eileen grew up in International Falls, MN enjoying ice skating, swimming, blueberry picking, family and many friendships. At the tender age of 18 in 1944, she moved to Portland, OR. There she became a welder building victory ships for the war effort. She met the love of her life and they married in 1945. Upon moving to Topeka in 1946, she supported her husband in his business pursuits, including Boyles Dairy Freeze South. When the last child was in elementary school, she started working at Josten's. She loved her work and made many friends. Upon retirement in 1991, she pursued her many interests in gardening, shopping, cooking, and (reluctantly) going on camping trips with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her infant daughter, Linda and her son, Jerry.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Dubach (Overland Park), Susan Metzler (Holton); Grandson, Scott Bradley (Judy) Holton;Great grandchildren, Tinsley, Bryson and Kolton; her brother, Weezer McDougall (International Falls, MN), sisters, Lou McDougall (International Falls, MN) and Doris Elliott, (Casnovia, MI), plus many much loved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street Topeka, KS 66604. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery.
