Eileen M. Teel, 82, Topeka, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at a local hospital.
Eileen was born December 4, 1926 in LaVerne, Iowa, the daughter of Dewey and Vera Howell. She was raised on a farm in North Central Iowa. She graduated from Oak Park Academy in 1943 and attended Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska.
She was a member of Phi Tau Omega Sorority, Tau Kappa Chapter, Chapter HG of PEO, Women's Golf Group, Cypress Golf Course, and Topeka Moosette Organization.
She worked as a Legal Secretary at Jochems, Sargent and Blaes Law Firm in Wichita; Executive Secretary to the President of Pizza Hut Corporation of America in Wichita; Secretary to Executive Director of Kansas Republican Party Headquarters in Topeka; and Transcriber for Curtis, Schloetzer and Associates in Topeka for eight years.
Eileen married Edward Everett Herr on September 15, 1946 in Mason City, Iowa. They later divorced in 1959. She married Warren C. Teel on July 14, 1974 in Manhattan, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include children, Richard Dale Herr, Gentry, AR, Ronald Dean Herr, Berrien Center, MI, Debra Marie Reagor, Turlock, CA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Constance Ann Teel, Minneapolis, MN; step-son, Douglas Joseph Teel, Newport News, VA; and sisters, Ruth Nunn, Lincoln, NE, Ruby Jacoshenk, Portland, OR, and Dorothy Jones, Roseburg, CA. She was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Howell, Robert Howell; and sister, Nana White.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th, Topeka, Kansas. Private family burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Eileen will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
