Edwin "Ed" Hales, 74, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021.
He was born August 15, 1946, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Donald and Nettie Hales.
He graduated from Topeka High School.
He served in the Navy. While surviving, he was a Seabee working alongside the Marines to build roads and buildings for the bases. He served in the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed life.
Ed married Karen J. Eichel in 1977, she survives. Other survivors include his children, Stephanie (Mark) Seel, Francis John (Jennifer) Hallissey, Jenette Marie, and Jodi Grabauskas and grandson, Garry Helmick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Walter Blanton and Raymond Blanton.
Cremation is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation 4601 Forbes Blvd. – Suite #130Lanham, MD 20706.
