Edwin Flickinger

Edwin Jacob Flickinger, 82, of Topeka, passed away at his home on Monday Feb. 15, 2010. He was born in Wichita, KS on September 17th, 1927, the son of John P. Flickinger and Gladys L. Gsell.
Edwin moved to Topeka in 1936 where he attended school at Roosevelt Jr. High. He graduated from Topeka High in 1944, and attended Washburn University for two years before joining his father in the Bond and Insurance business for Speed Warner. Edwin and his father then went into business for themselves and he retired in 1992.
Edwin married Nelda Stohs on April 7th, 1962. They lived in Topeka, before moving to Jefferson County, KS in 1979. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday Feb. 18, 2010, at Penwell Gabel Midtown Chapel. Edwin will lie in state after noon on Wednesday. No visitation is planned. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church Capital Campaign, 901 Fillmore, Topeka, KS 66606.
