Edward Paul Amsbaugh Age 85, of Topeka, passed away at his home. He was born April 13, 1917 in Abilene, KS the son of Carey and Ella Barber Amsbaugh. He attended Abilene schools, graduating from Abilene High School in 1936.

He attended Washburn University, graduating in 1941. While at Washburn he played football, basketball, and track. He was a member of Alpha Delta fraternity
and Sagamore, a honor society for senior men.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Lieutenant in the Armed Guard Service in both the European and Pacific Theatre. He was president of the Amsbaugh Sporting Goods Co. Inc., a manufacturers representative company, located in Shreveport, LA and Atchison, KS. He retired to Topeka, KS in 1990. He was honored by the National Sporting Goods Association in Chicago, ILL with a lifetime achievement award. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Topeka. He was elected to the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984. He was a former member of Topeka Country Club.

He was married to Elizabeth Ruth Hunter Amsbaugh November 27, 1941, She survives.
Other Survivors: Two Sons: Stephen Amsbaugh, Granby, CO., Charles Amsbaugh, Loose Creek, MO., One Daughter: Linda Coy, Jefferson City, MO.
Four grandchildren: Hunter Amsbuagh, Dillon, CO, Ali Racha, Chris Coy, and Jill Coy, all of Jefferson City, MO.

Cremation is palnned. A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 11:00AM Monday, January 20, 2003, Inurnment will be a later date.
