Edward Maxwell "Max" Kiene, 94, Topeka, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 1, 2016. He was born July 15, 1921 in Topeka, the son of Edward Arthur and Bertha (Maxwell) Kiene.
He graduated from Topeka High School in 1939 and attended Kansas University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 and was a plank holder on the USS Antietam. He worked for the AT & SF Railway in the Car Service and Freight Claim Departments for 40 years.
He married Elizabeth Boon on January 17, 1942 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors are two daughters, Martha Sue Pearson, Las Vegas, NV and Jeanne Emerson (Denis Connelly), Marble Falls, TX.
Memorial services will be 10 am on Monday, March 7 at Brewster Place Health Center Chapel, 1101 SW 29th St., Topeka. Private interment will be held at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
