Edward J. Purdy

Edward J. Purdy was greeted in Heaven by his wife, Joan on September 3, 2005. Ed was born on July 21, 1924 in Topeka the son of James and Bertha Foster Purdy. Ed was an Army veteran and served in WWII as a marksman rifleman. He was employed as a bricklayer for Jayhawk Masonry for many years before retiring in 1986. He will be greatly missed by his children, Ron, Linda and Lisa. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery. Burial will follow. Ed will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.
