Edward Hanson

July 26, 1929 — February 16, 2016

Edward D. Hanson, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.

He and his wife Helen enjoyed 64 years of marriage along with three beautiful children, Stephanie Miller (Brad), Mark Hanson (Lori), and Julie Sorensen (Don).

One of Ed's passions in life was sports, particularly basketball. He played basketball at Washburn University and was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1980. He continued that love of basketball by coaching and cheering on his children and grandchildren in all of their sports and activities.

Ed's greatest accomplishment was his family. He was blessed with six grandchildren, Brady Sisk (Stephanie), Taylor Hill (Scott), Rylie Hanson, Sydnie Hanson, McKenna Sorensen and Jacob Sorensen, and one great-grandchild, Emerson Hill.

There will be no formal visitation. A celebration of Ed's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19th, at Faith Lutheran Church. We invite everyone to join us for lunch immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, Ks, 66606 or Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604.
