Edward "Ed" D. Campbell, 67, of Topeka, died on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at his home.
Ed was born on August 18, 1946 in Topeka to Earl and Laura Belle (Riggin) Campbell. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1965 and enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam conflict and was a disabled veteran.
Upon his return from the war, he held several different jobs in the Topeka area. In 1972, he started working for South Village, Inc; he retired in April of 2014 after 42 years.
Ed was married to Lucy Trammell in Miami, OK on August 1, 1969; they enjoyed 45 years of marriage together.
Ed greatest love was the time he spent on the water fishing and was a long time member of the Flint Hills Bass Association. Ed was a member and past commander of American Legion Post #1 and a former volunteer deputy for the Shawnee County Sheriff.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Campbell of Topeka, a son, Brad (Melanie) of Carbondale, two grandchildren, Kaillee and Jaren Campbell, and one sister, Candy (Bud) Champney of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Eric Campbell.
Ed's wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Burial will follow at Topeka Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 5 from 6:00-8:00p.m.
