Edward Charles Olsen, Iii

Edward Charles Olsen, III, 74, Topeka, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015.
He was born March 25, 1941, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, the son of Edward, Jr. and Doris (Sanders) Olsen. He graduated from Havertown High School in Havertown, PA and later received a Bachelor's Degree from National University in San Diego, CA. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and retiring in 1979 after 20 years of service.

Ed was currently a security officer with Vendt Tech for KDHE at Forbes Field and worked for various companies in high tech electronics.

He was a member of the West Side Baptist Church where he served as Deacon of outreach and pastoral search committee.

Edward married Catherine L. Smith on November 11, 2000 in San Diego, CA. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Sandy Olsen, John (Chris) Olsen and their son Jonah, all of California; step-son, Brian J. Roach, Sr. and his children, Brian, Jr., Justin and Bradyn Roach, all of Topeka; brothers, Thomas (Georgie) and Richard (Linda) Olsen, all from the East coast.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Elbert.

Visitation will begin at 9 am until service time at 10 am, Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the West Side Baptist Church, 1008 S.W. 4th Street, Topeka. Interment with military honors will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to West Side Baptist Church. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
