Edona Carter passed away on March 19, 2008. She was born May 7, 1943 in Topeka, the daughter of Donald R. and Edna A. (Sheedy) Halleck, and the second of three children. Edona graduated from Topeka High School in 1961 and attended Washburn University. She worked in the Administrative Department of Memorial Hospital.
Edona married Michael Monaghan who preceded her in death in February of 1971. Her parents and brother, Jerry, also preceded her in death. She married Gary L. Carter on September 18, 1982. Edona is survived by her husband; her sister Linda Halleck of Bandon, Oregon; two children: Michael Monaghan and ELane Miller; two stepchildren: Scott Carter and Connie Anguish; ten grandchildren: Brett Miller, Bryce Miller, Wyatt Miller,Raley Miller, Patrick Monaghan, Kiley Monaghan, Brenna Monaghan, Christian Carter, Joshua Anguish, and Sebastian Anguish.
Mrs. Carter was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Woman's Club of Topeka, serving as past president and honorary director. Edona enjoyed playing bridge, games, dancing, gambling and traveling. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with family and friends.
