Edna Colleen (Sober) Scott was born September 7, 1934, in Fay, Oklahoma, to Daniel Wesley and Lottie Nancy (Martin) Sober and passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, July 26, 2012 in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 77 years.

Colleen attended public school in Fay, Oklahoma, and was vice-president of her senior class. While in high school Colleen was a member of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She was also a member of the girls' basketball and softball teams. After high school, Colleen attended college at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma and the University Hospital School of Nursing, in Oklahoma City, Ok. She graduated with a Registered Nursing Degree and worked at the Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City. Colleen married Rayburn Scott in 1959. They made their home in Topeka, Kansas, and had three daughters. Colleen and Ray were actively involved with their children and grandchildren and their many activities. Ray died in 1998. Colleen continued to follow the grandchildren's activities. She loved attending and singing in her church choir as long as she was able. Colleen is survived by three daughters, Sandra Preston and her husband, Steve of Manhattan, Kansas; Dr. Cheryl Lasselle and her husband, Jeff, of Racine, Wisconsin; and Tammy Miller and her husband, Rick of Wakarusa, Kansas; Six grandchildren: Alex Lasselle and his fiancé , Elisa Gomez Castro of Oxford, Ohio; Laura Preston and fiancé, Blaine Cash , and Daniel Preston all of Manhattan, Ks; Abigail, Amanda and Braedan Miller of Wakarusa, Ks.; great granddaughter, Sophia Marie Lasselle, Oxford, Ohio; sister, Shirley Spangler, Hoisington, Kansas; niece, Sherry Boyd, Hoisington, Kansas; brother-in-law, George C. Scott; Weatherford, Oklahoma; and sister-in-law; Dr. Jana Lou Scott, Weatherford, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and sister, Dorothy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Tecumseh United Methodist Church in Tecumseh. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Fay, Oklahoma. Colleen will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2012.
