Edna Mae Petersen, 93, Topeka, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Brewster Place.

Edna Mae was born March 22, 1924 in Harlan, IA, the daughter of Edwin and Ethel Marie (Edwards) Nelson. She graduated from Harlan High School and attended American Institute of Business in Des Moines, IA.

She was employed as the Business Office Manager at Topeka Presbyterian Manor for 15 years, retiring in 1989.

She was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church since 1971 where she was active in Adult Sunday School, Monday Morning Bible Study, Women's Circle, Administrative Board and Gifts & Memorials Committee (Chair). She also enjoyed her T.O.P.S. Friday morning group.

Edna Mae married Durrell Copeland Petersen on May 19, 1946 in Des Moines, IA; he preceded her in death May 1, 1981. Survivors include daughter, Janet Petersen, Oak Park, IL; son, Jim (Ellen) Petersen, Elburn, IL; grandchildren, Peter, Melisa, Mandy; and two great-grandsons. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret and Lois.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2017 at Countryside United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will be at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, IA.
