Edna Mae Larsen, 75, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2006 at Plaza West Regional Health Center. She was born on April 25, 1931 in Marion, SD, the daughter of John J. and Emma K. Westfall Klassen. She was employed by the Salvation Army for 33 years before retiring. She was an active member of the Salvation Army where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Girl Guard Leader, a member of the Corps Council and Corps Sargent Major and also a member of the Ladies Auxilary. Edna married Sherman C. Larsen on September 16, 1951 in North Platte, NE. They moved to Topeka in 1955. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman, her brother, Harvey Klassen and her sister, Bernice Burns. Survivors include her three children, Jan Larsen, Scott and Diane Larsen of Topeka and Debi and Kevin Nimz of Oklahoma City, four grandchildren, Kye Nimz and Kara Nimz of Oklahoma City, Kaleb Nimz of Dublin, Ireland and Sherry Siegel of Topeka, and a great-grandson on the way. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Edna will lie in state after Noon Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
