Edna Gigous

Edna Irene Gigous was born March 16, 1928 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She died February 7, 2006 in Midland Hospice in Topeka, Kansas. She was the daughter of Peter and Sophie Stang. They immigrated to the United States from a German settlement in Russia in 1913. Edna was a homemaker and later retired from J. C. Penney's. She married Thomas Gigous on October 6, 1946. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2006.

Edna is survived by three sisters, Emma Gerboth of Abilene, Kansas, Esther Eckhardt of Kansas City, Missouri and Ruth Clark of Newport Beach, California. Also surviving are her daughters Irene Hasenbank of Scranton, Kansas, Christy Rand of Beverly, Massachusetts and Cindy Halbett of Salem, Massachusetts. She had six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed quilting, baking and gardening.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Gigous will lie in state after 12:00 noon Friday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening.
