Edna M. Burroughs, 87, of Topeka, passed away, Monday, September 05, 2005, at her home.
She was born January 24, 1918 in Concordia, Missouri the daughter of Andrew and Emilie Gieseke. From 1934-1940 she was employed in Kansas City, MO and Saint Louis, MO. She was a lifelong active helper and co-worker as a pastor's wife, for 65 years. She also served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, member of Ladies Aid, Lutheran Guilds and served many years as a volunteer in various civic and church activities.
She and her husband served in Schuyler, NE; Omaha, NE; Topeka, KS; San Francisco, CA and Council Bluffs, IA.
Edna married Reverend A.C. Burroughs May 28, 1940.
She was currently a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Topeka.
Survivors include her husband; one son, David, Omaha, NE; one daughter, Deborah, Tempe, AZ; one brother, Lambert Gieseke, New Smyra Beach, FL; one sister, Betty Hebel, Fremont, CA; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Lily Reinboth and two brothers, Wilfred and Hobert Gieseke.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2005 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Topeka. Graveside services will be held 1:00 pm Friday in Omaha, NE. Mrs. Burroughs will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
