Edna A. McCracken, 97, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Brewster Place, with her daughter and her loving staff by her side.
She was born on January 4, 1915, in Richmond Hill, Long Island, New York, to Frank and Leola (Jones) Cobb. Edna married Reverend David McCracken on October 26, 1941, in Poundridge, New York. Edna was a registered nurse in Connecticut and New York. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and was a Daughter of the American Revolution. Edna moved to Topeka in 1994 to be closer to her daughter. She was an active member of First United Methodist well into her nineties. Edna loved traveling, gardening, and loved animals.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Reverend David Patton McCracken; her parents; her brother, Frank Cobb, Jr.; and two sisters, Eleanor Cobb and Mayflora Major.
Edna is survived by her two children, Suzanne E. Clopine of Topeka and Dr. Malcolm (Terri) McCracken of Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren, Russell (Janet) Clopine, Jennifer Goepfert, Daryl (Vicky) McCracken, Richard (Jill) McCracken and Gail (Jim) Yongue; and ten great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Edna will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, November 9, 2012, at First United Methodist Chapel, 600 SW Topeka Blvd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brewster Place Retirement Community's Employee Assistance Fund, 1205 SW 29th Street, Topeka, KS 66611 and First United Methodist Church.
