Edith Grace Kintner Schroer, age 73, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at home.
She was born in Frankfort, Kansas on July 6, 1933 to Willard Keith and Grace McClelland Kintner. Ede lived in Frankfort until 1950, when she moved to Topeka. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1951, and went on to graduate from Stormont-Vail School of Nursing in 1954. In 1978 she graduated from Washburn University with a degree in Corrections, and worked briefly for Shawnee County Court Services. Over the years, she was employed as an R.N. at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Colmery-O'Neil VA Hospital, and for the USD-501 Head Start Program.
Ede married Gene Eldon Schroer in 1956, in Frankfort, Kansas. They were divorced in 1987.
Ede is survived by her children; son, Kenneth G. Schroer and wife Jeanine of Atlanta, Georgia; and daughters Rebecca J. Cortez and husband Jesse of Topeka; Sonya J. Crane and husband Brian of Olathe; and Connie J. Sherrill and husband Robert of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Her brother, Gaylon Kintner and wife Kay of Manhattan also survive. Grandchildren include Lauren Schroer, Atlanta, Georgia; Eric and Amy Cortez, Topeka, ; Mitchall, Moriah and Jaden Crane, Olathe; Branum, Cole, Aidan and Samuel Sherrill, Jacksonville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at the Frankfort United Methodist Church in Frankfort, Kansas on Friday June 15 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the Frankfort Cemetery. Ede will lie in state after 2:00 p.m.on Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Midtown Chapel where family will greet friends from 6-8 pm that evening.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Frankfort Community Food Pantry in care of Frankfort United Methodist Church, 410 North Kansas, Frankfort, Kansas.
