Mrs. Edith M. Weigel died, Saturday, May 27th, 2006 at her home in Topeka, KS.
She was born August 31, 1914 in Lawrence, KS, daughter of Joseph Franklin Davis and Anna Rachel Walrod Davis. She was raised in Lawrence.
She married Walter Jones in 1930. They had a daughter Judy Ann Hoffman. He died in 1931.
She married Shelby Loren Weigel on July 20th, 1936. They had 8 children. He died in 1947.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 5 sisters, and two sons, Garret Reading and Shelby Weigel.
She was a homemaker. In her later years she worked for the Leavenworth County Nursing Home and Cushion Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth, KS.
She was a long time member to The Church Of God Of Prophecy.
Her survivors include, one son George Weigel, daughters Judy Ann Hoffman and husband George, Vickie Lyons and husband Noel, Carrie Stettler, Sue Nichols and husband Donnie, Glenna Woods, and Linda Nichols and husband Jerry, 28 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.
Services for Edith will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Avenue, Topeka. Burial will follow at Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence, KS. She will lie in state at 12 noon Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening. Memorial contributions may be given to The Church Of God Of Prophecy, 436 S.E. Fairfax, Topeka, Kansas 66607.
