Edith H. Weekley, 88, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Midland Hospice Care. She was born on December 29, 1920 in Silver Lake, MO to Roymantus and Theresa Marie (Pridemore) Duvall. On April 25, 1937 she married Edman James Weekley, Sr. in Potosi, MO, he preceded her in death. She retired from American Yearbook Company, later known as Jostens.
Edith is survived by her children, Edman James (Dolores) Weekley, Jr. of Carbondale; Donald L. Weekley of Auburn; Shirley H. Holding of Topeka; Norma Jean (Rolland) Jackson of Mayetta; Connie M. (Allen) Bernier of Hemphill, TX; Gary L. (Judy) Weekley of Topeka; Carolyn L. Kiefer of Topeka; Sharon M. (Robert) Gardner of Tecumseh; Charlotte E. (Dave) Henderson of Placerville, CA; Dorothy R. (Robert) Sharp of Topeka; Harlan E. Weekley of Topeka; Vernon D. Weekley of Topeka; 36 grandchildren, 87 great grandchildren and 35 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 11 at Seaman Congregational Church, 2036 NW Taylor, Topeka. Burial will follow in the Mission Center Cemetery. Edith will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Cir, Topeka, KS 66606.
