Edith Mae Frost

June 26, 1925 — November 27, 2024

Topeka, Kansas

Edith Mae Frost, born on June 26, 1925, in Lawrence, Kansas, passed away peacefully on November 27 2024, in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family. A cherished daughter of Owen and Maude Mitchell, Edith was a warm and loving spirit whose life was a testament to faith and family, the two pillars upon which she built her legacy.

She grew up on a farm just north of Lawrence with her 2 sisters and 7 brothers and everybody had a job to do. She had so many stories about those years, even her punishments of sitting on a stool in the corner when she talked too much.

Edith graduated from Lawrence High School and found a desire for teaching others, as shown through her dedication as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Her commitment to sharing Bible stories with first graders helped shaped many young lives. Edith also managed the home effortlessly and provided professional ironing services for 30 years to a number of Topeka families.

Later in life she loved to watch her Kansas City Royals. She and Clayton also enjoyed yearly trips with their son Bob to go fishing in Colorado. Edith made it clear “no rustic cabins, thank you!”

Known for her sweet and optimistic disposition, Edith made friends easily and was beloved by all who crossed her path. Her down-to-earth nature and warm-heartedness reminded everyone around her of the beauty of compassion we are capable of.

Edith is survived by her loving daughter, JoAnn (Steve) Kirk, and her devoted brothers – Scott, Harold, Don, and Den Mitchell. The legacy of her nurturing spirit continues through her grandchildren, Christa Kirk-Webber, Josie Kirk-Pagel, and Liesel Kirk-Fink as well as her great-grandchildren – Chloe, Cavan, Coco, Cruz Webber; Titan, Taylen, Tinsley, Teagan Pagel; Grayson, Payton, Clayton, and Kennison Fink. Each of them knew her as Grandma Edie.

Edith now joins her beloved husband, Clayton Frost, their daughter Linda Frost, and son Robert Frost in the eternal embrace of God's grace. She is also reunited with her siblings – Earl Mitchell, Reece Mitchell, Loy Mitchell, Ruth Mitchell, and Dorris Richardson, creating a heavenly reunion.

As we reflect upon Edith Mae Frost's life, we celebrate a woman whose faith and love profoundly impacted so many people. Her spirit will forever be a beacon of hope and an example of God's boundless love for family and community. We are so thankful for the time we were blessed to share with her, and we rejoice in the knowledge that she rests now in her Savior’s arms.

Funeral and Graveside Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Edith's name to Topeka Presbyterian Manor, 4712 SW 6th Ave, Topeka, KS 66606.
