Ed Henry Warkentine of Topeka, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012.

He was born November 26, 1924 in Goessel, KS to Katie Schmidt and Henry Warkentine. During WWII, Ed served aboard the USS Isherwood of the 16th Fleet as Electrician's Mate Second Class. Afterward, he worked for the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad until he retired. He was a member of the Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene. And….he loved his KU Jayhawks!

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Velma McCoy Warkentine, his second wife Jo Neal Hayden Warkentine and his son Jon D. Warkentine.

He is survived by 6 children and their spouses, Brenda and Stephen Heap, Bruce and Pamela Warkentine, Bradley and Dianne Warkentine, Bonita Warkentine, Derek Warkentine and Fred and Marci Warkentine, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene, 730 Fairlawn Rd., Topeka, KS. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. A private family interment will be at a later date at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe, KS.
