Earlene M. Hogan, 72, of Topeka, passed away, Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Midland Hospice House after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born October 7, 1934 in Topeka, the daughter of Roy E. and Trula M. (Hall) Carnes.
Earlene married Donald L. Hogan on August 23, 1950. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her father, Roy E. Carnes and her mother and step father, Trula M. and Clifford J. Hudson. Survivors include her children, Susan O'Brien and her husband Dennis, Silver Lake; Cindy Winningham and her husband Arlen, Oak Grove, MO; Donald Hogan, Seattle, WA; Gary Nelson, Topeka; Larry Nelson and his wife Valerie, Topeka; Christie Posey, Sanford, FL; her grandchildren, Maggie and her husband Daniel, John, Kate, Shelby, Amanda and Hunter. She is also survived by her brother, Ronald Hudson, Midwest City, OK.
Earlene enjoyed working with children. She was a foster parent, worked at Capper Foundation, and Security Benefit. She and her husband were AFS International Host Parents to Dr. Samuel Bada currently of Jackson, TN. She retired as a Kansas Legislative Clerk after 18 years of service.
She attended Lakeview Church of the Nazarene.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
