Earl Woodworth, 85, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at Midland Hospice House, Topeka.
He was born July 21, 1917 at Holton, Kansas the son of Edson Stuart and Ina Blanche (Wible) Woodworth. Earl attended Holton public schools and was a 1935 graduate of Corning High School. He attended the University of Kansas from 1936-1938. He had resided in Topeka since 1939.
Mr. Woodworth was a business man. He owned and operated Woodworth Amusement Company, Topeka, from 1937-1947, Woodworth Sundries, Holton, from 1956-1965, and Woodworth Liquor, Topeka, from 1966 until his retirement in 1976. He later worked for Newcomer Diffenderfer Funeral Home and Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
Earl was a member of Masonic Lodge #42, Holton, Kansas. He was also a member of the Arab Shrine, Scottish Rite Bodies, and AARP.
He is survived by one son, William E. Woodworth, Lenexa, Kansas, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Earl was preceded in death by one sister, Lucile Atwater.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2002 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private inurnment will be in the Holton Cemetery.
