Mr. Earl Rissen, Sr., 83 of Osage City, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. He was born in Vassar, KS to Edward E. and Sarah Schendel Rissen , on January 24, 1920.
Earl farmed in the early part of his life and then after retirement, he raised cattle and wheat. He worked at Topeka Goodyear Plant from 1948-1982, retiring as a Tire Inspector. Earl served in the U.S. Army during WWII, in the European Theatre.
A member of The United Rubber Workers, D.A.V. , American Legion and the Methodist Church.
On May 13, 1946 he married Mervis Yvonne Slocum of Lake Charles, LA. She passed away on April 8, 1980.
He was remarried on June 27, 1981 to Bessie Lee Burd Shaw; she survives and lives in Osage City.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003 from 2-4pm., Earl will lie in state until 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be Monday, Aug. 18, 2003 at 1:00 pm, in Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by United States Army, Ft. Riley, KS.
