E. Nadine Shores

E. Nadine Shores, 88, of Topeka, beloved aunt and friend, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2005 at a local retirement community.

She was born May 27, 1917 in Osawatomie, the daughter of James and Minnie (Lemmons) Shores.

Miss Shores spent her childhood in Independence, Garnett, and Burlington, Kansas, graduating from Garnett High School in 1935. She moved to Topeka in 1941. She was a secretary at the Boys Industrial School for 23 years, then became a secretary in the Records Division of the Topeka Police Department, retiring in 1982. She was a volunteer for many years at the Topeka-Shawnee County Public Library and was a member of the First Baptist Church since her move to Topeka.

She was known for her caring attitude- caring for her mother Minnie and then for her sister Lora. Her sense of humor was well known, she had a quip for everyone, and she loved the Royals, despite their losses. Nadine's laughter, sense of humor, zest for life, love, concern for others and her genuine friendship are gifts her family and friends will always remember and cherish.

She was preceded in death by her brothers; Robert Henry "Harry" Shores and Thomas Shores; sisters Lora McKee and Dorothy Chandler.
