E. Mary McNish, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on March 28, 1923 in Topeka, the daughter of Charles F. and Ada Owens Pomeroy. She was a life-long Topeka resident. She was employed by Hallmark Cards for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Women's Circle. She served with her twin brother as past presidents of the Kansas Twins Association. She married Gene W. McNish on September 1, 1940 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include, two sons, Charles McNish of Topeka, Ron McNish of Overland Park, one daughter, Eileen Bedell of Papillion, Nebraska, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, her twin Charles P. Pomeroy of Topeka and Elwaine Pomeroy of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her son, James L. McNish in 1998, one brother, Emerson M. Pomeroy and one sister, Frances Young. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. McNish will lie in state after Noon Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
