E. Leslie Scrinopskie

E. Leslie Scrinopskie, 83, Topeka, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 22, 2005 at his home.

He was born April 17, 1922 in Topeka, the son of Myer J. and Donna E. Scrinopskie. He graduated from Topeka High School, and served in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska in the US Army Air Corps during WW2 .

Mr. Scrinopskie was co-owner of Scrinopskies and Apollo Mini Storage in Topeka for over 50 years. He was a 60 year member of Orient Lodge #51 AF&AM and Topeka Consistory, where he served as a Class Director and was coroneted with a 33rd Degree Inspector General. He was also a 59 year member of the Arab Shrine where he restarted the clown unit in 1963, was a member of the Legion of Honor, and then became Potentate in 1977. He served as a volunteer for the Police and Fire Civil Service Commission, for the hiring of police officers and fire fighters for over 20 years.

He was a lifetime member of Temple Beth Sholom, where he served as the Temple treasurer, Vice President, and was chairman of the building addition. He served on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers-Big Sisters, the Jayhawk Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of Capitol Post #1 American Legion and Philip Billard Post #1650 VFW.

He married Harriette Spector on April 17, 1948 in Kansas City, MO. She survives.

Other survivors include his daughter, Nancy Scrinopskie Epoch, his son, Ronald S. Scrinopskie and daughter-in-law, Frayna, their two children Kelsey and Jared. Also surviving is his brother, Robert Scrinopskie, and sister-in-law, Virginia, and two nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Evan Douglas Epoch and Barry Eaton Epoch.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at Penwell Gabel Mid Town Chapel with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
