Benefit Life for 10 years. He then owned and operated a carpet cleaning company for a few years before retiring.
Mr. Tietze was raised on a farm near Cambridge, Nebraska. He attended Hebron Junior College, and graduated
from Kansas State University with a degree in business administration in 1948. He came to Topeka in 1953. He
served in the US Army from 1942-1946. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for 44 years, where
he had been a member of the church choir for 29 years.
