Duane I. Parr, 84, of Rossville, passed away, Monday, January 9, 2006 at his home.
He was born October 2, 1921 the son of Ray and Edna Immenschuh Parr.
Mr. Parr graduated from Rossville High School and attended Kansas State University.
He was employed by the Santa Fe offices in Topeka as a young man before beginning a lifelong career as a farmer in the Rossville community. He loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren and
farming.
Mr. Parr was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church. He served on the Rossville school board during the years his children were in school. He was a member of the Topeka Moose Lodge.
He married Vivian H. Tolin December 20, 1947 in Topeka. She survives at the home. Other survivors include: one son, J.D. Parr and his wife Nancy, Baldwin City, KS; one daughter, Patti Wilmoth and her husband John, Sanger, TX; his grandchildren, Annie and Ellie Parr of Baldwin City and Laura and Kathryn Wilmoth of Sanger, TX. He was preceded in death by his brother LeRoy Parr.
Funeral services conducted by Reverend Nancy Kollhoff will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Parr will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. that evening.
