Duane D. Goodrich, 89, Topeka, died peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2022 in his home surrounded by his children.
Duane was born in Topeka on January 15, 1933 to Kenneth and Pearl (Streeter) Goodrich.
Duane graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1951. He attended the University of Kansas and studied architecture. He spent the next 33 years working for KP&L/Westar before retiring in 1985.
Duane was a skilled woodworker and spent countless hours making and building furniture, signs, toys, his "little people" and just about anything else you could imagine. His creativity was amazing.
Duane was also a member and past president of the Topeka Horseshoe Club. He received an induction to the Kansas Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame in 2000.
Duane married Barbara (Tosh) on June 7, 1957 in Topeka. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include their four children: Bret (Jean) Goodrich, Derie (Steve) Briman, Bretta Hopkins-Birkenfeld (Joe) and Dara Wilson; nine grandchildren: Jaye Goodrich, Jordan (Jess) Schuster, Garrett Schuster, Caleb (Kelsey) Hopkins, Cody (Devyn)Hopkins , Colton Hopkins, Luke Wilson, Drew (Jeryn) Wilson, Brant Wilson and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Merril Goodrich.
Duane was also preceded in death by his brothers Carl and Keith Goodrich and his son-in-law, Graydon Wilson.
Duane has chosen cremation and a private burial will be held by the family at the Valley Falls Cemetery.
The family will have a celebration of life at 12:00 p.m. on Monday December 19th, 2022 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka.
